100 Stars

That is how many stars I had to stick to a poster board with Malachi. Tuesday is his 100th day of Kindergarten and he had to make a poster board of 100 things or 10 things of 10 items. He picked foam sticker stars and I had to do do must of them because he couldn't peel the paper off the back. He did them in a design of the number 100. Then he spray painted over with silver glitter. If I never see another foam star I wouldn't care. It wasn't too bad, I love helping him with school since he isn't here during the week but 100 stars can be a little too much.

My Goals

We all make goals this time of year of what we want to accomplish before the end of the year but the other day I thought of some long term goals I want to accomplish by a certain time. I may add to this list down the road when I am not so tired but for now here is what I have.

1. I want to be renting a house not an apartment no later than 5 years from now in the country outside of Houston.

2. In 10 years I want to be buying or have bought my first home.

3. 4 years from now I want to be graduating with my MBA.

4. Christmas 2008 I want to be taking Malachi to Disney World for the holidays.

5. 5 years from now I want to own a newer car at least a 2000 model.

6. 10 years from now I want my student loans paid off and my credit reports clean.

7. 6 years from now I want to be married to the man of my dreams.

8. 6 years from now I want to take Malachi to England and Ireland.

9. 7 years from now I want to take Malachi to Italy and Germany.

10. Within 12 years I want to take many vacations across the United States.

11. Within 10 years I want to be a successful accountant.

FOTM Is Here!!!!!!!!

I started getting FOTM again this month and I am getting it from Enchanted Fabrics. I am getting two 9x15 painted 28ct Monoco pieces. After this month shipping is free and all I pay is $4! I definitely can find something to give up to afford that every month. I hope to be able to do it through at least May and then pick back up once I get settled in Houston. My fabric box is going to be so happy getting these two stunning pieces. This month I got Raindrop and a limited edition piece Enchanted Hearts. I think I know what I am going to use Raindrop for but Enchanted Hearts is going to take some thinking, maybe a romantic Valentine piece perhaps.

The New Eating Plan

Well after eating my new way, I feel like a new person. Not feeling like I was after eating red meat and milk. So I am hoping that if I continue to eat this way I will even feel better in another week. I am finding it quite easy to eat this way and so far don't miss the red meat or milk. Malachi was a little confuesed by my new eating plan but he now knows that cows make me sick like stawberries do him. He really liked the sloppy joes with Morning Star crumbles and said that they tasted just like real sloppy joes. He wants me to make Hamburger Helper next time with it, I may do that or use ground turkey whatever fits in the budget for that week.

The Emanicpator's Wife

This novel about Mary Todd Lincoln left me with a lot of question of who she was. Was she as crazy as history says she was or is it something passed down through the generations. I agree with what the author says at the end that it's possible she suffered from bipolar, she had the symptoms to suggest it. Mary Todd Lincoln was abandoned and forgotten not only by our country after Lincoln's death but also by her oldest son. I never knew that he witnessed Garfield's and McKinley's assassinations. Even though this is a historical novel it leaves you wondering what is the truth and what is the fiction. I want to now know even more about Mary Todd Lincoln and who she was, sadly a lot of her writings were destroyed by orders of her son. You are left wondering what she said in letters and other writings her son felt was best never known. I recommend this book to anyone who loves that time period, who wants a deeper insight to Mary Todd Lincoln, or anyone who just loves history in general.

Why I Hate Dating

Well the McHotty thing has come to a sudden halt. He was going to come over this evening to watch the Da Vinci Code and just hang out as friends. Well after an hour of him saying he would be over in a few seconds I went outside and he was out there. He saw me and said oh I am really tired and I will talk to you tomorrow. Nothing else, went inside and shut the door. I e-mailed him and said it was best that I went alone on the 20th and I would talk to him later. I will still be polite when I see him because thats the kind of person I am but he won't be getting another opportunity to go out with me. If he was tired he should of said that to begin with and not lie to me. I hate a liar and that is what he is in my book now. I am going back in my shell where it's safe. I just wanted to make friends to do things with but I can't even get that right and I don't know why.

McHotty

By request I am back to write more on this guy. Yes I did see him that night and yesterday too. We normally don't talk long but that's ok just enough to give me courage but not so much I run away scared. Did I mention that McHotty is a younger man? Oh yes ladies he is 24 years old and will be 25 in May. As long as he is not working on the 20th he will be going with me to a friends 2 year old's birthday party. Just something casual, give us both something to do and a casual environment to get to know one another. Will something come of this? Who knows, but if I gain a friend out of this that is what counts in my book. I have found I don't want to date just make friends to hang out with and talk to once in awhile. Once I figure out how to get his picture I will post it for the curious.

Texas Sampler

I finally finished this up today after starting it Dec. 31st. I had to take a week away from it to work on other things but picked it back up today and finished it. It is a design by Eventide Designs called Texas Sampler. It was stitched on 28ct Blue Monoco using various DMC threads. I finished it off into a needle roll with blue ribbon to tie it off.

Valentine Stitchery

I stitched this design by Jodi Watson called Dizzy With Love for Valentine Stitchery 2007. I used DMC varegiated thread 99 and GAST Pink Azela stitched on 28ct Monoco. January 9th

Being A Single Woman

You know I don't act like your typical woman, make-up etc. Oh I do make sure the hair looks just so, the make-up looking nice, dress clothes for work but any other time it's casual clothes and neat hair. My neighbor's son has been staying with him and we have had conversations mostly small talk. This guy, who I will call McHotty from now on, has seen me in t-shirts and workout pants and doesn't bat an eye. Heck he has even asked me to go out sometime while I was standing in said clothes. Tonight I did the scariest thing, I ate dinner and then jumped into the shower, used the good smelling shower gel, and then put on a long sleeved shirt over my jean skirt and instead of grabbing the fuzzy slippers I put on my sandals. Now normally if I am not going out after a shower I just let my hair dry. Oh no not tonight, I not only blowed dried my hair, I used mousse! So here I am looking all fresh and clean with no where to go just so if McHotty happens to be outside and sees me I look nice. What has gotten into me? This is so not me and it's scary to tell you the truth. More on the dramas of McHotty later.

The First Post

Well here I am back to blogging. I swore I would never be one of those that would have a blog and I tried it and then forgot about it. But this time I am going to keep up no matter what. I trully live my life in overdrive. Between working, going to school full time, and helping raise my wonderful six year old son I never have time it seems for anything else. In my spare time I love to cross stitch and read lots of books. So in this blog you will see what I am working on every month, get to see what I am reading, and also my menu for the week. I am determined to eat better and live a healthier life than before. I have had to change my diet due to health reasons and so now I welcome soy with open arms and have said good-bye to red meat. I still can eat chicken and turkey but that is it. I also am now drinking soy milk compared to regular milk and so far so good. I start my last semester at college in a week and come May I will have my associates in Business Administration. From there I am relocating to Houston, Texas and will begin working on my bachelors in Business Administration with an emphasis in either accounting or finance. You would think at 27 I would know what I want to be when I grow up. :) Check back later for my menu this week and other postings.
